Welcome to our 4-week Clay Wheel Course! This introductory program is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in pottery and the essential skills needed to create beautiful ceramic pieces on the pottery wheel. Whether you're a beginner or someone looking to refine their skills, this course will cater to your needs and help you unleash your creativity. During this course, you will embark on a creative journey that explores the art of wheel-thrown pottery. Over the span of four weeks, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of working with clay on the wheel, from centering and shaping to trimming and glazing. PLEASE NOTE: I will be away Thursday the 5th September (the last week for this course) so the last week will be the 12 September instead!!! Week 1 - You will learn how to prepare the clay to be thrown (wedging) - What tools you'll be using and how they can help the process. - How to centre clay on the wheel (hand/ body positioning techniques) - Throw 4 pre-wedged pieces on the wheel (4 Mugs) - Explore different shapes and various techniques. Week 2 - Trimming a form - How to add texture or anything decorative - Second lot of throwing different shapes and structures (4 bowls) Week 3 - Second lot of trimming - Pulling handles and attaching - Add on any external decorative pieces (tissue transfers) - Bisque firing all pieces Week 4 - How to use under glazing - Different glazing techniques - How to paint on glazes or dip bucket glazes - Should have at least 6- 8 pieces to glaze All pieces to collect once final firing is complete. By the end of this 4-week Clay Wheel Course, you will have gained a solid understanding of pottery wheel techniques and the confidence to continue exploring and creating on your own. Whether you're interested in pursuing pottery as a hobby or envision a future as a ceramic artist, this course is the perfect starting point for your clay journey.
